It's all about me...

OK, so I've not posted on here since 2004, so I thought it might be nice to update here...

What's been going on with me?

Work:

I worked in Cardiac Rehabilitation for two years, and after about 5 months of going back and forth, I accepted a position as an Implementation Consultant for Health Care Information Systems at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics. Geez, that's a lot of capitalization... I guess that makes it more important? ;) I love what I do now. I've been a geek for most of my life, the only difference is now I get paid to be that geek. I spend a lot of time at my desk, so if you're on any messenger programs, I can be reached thru YAHOO/AIM pretty easily.

Family:

For those that don't know, my reason for moving back to Iowa from Alaska is cuz my mother has emphyzema. It was time to come back. She's doing well still. She has the oxygen tank thing going on 24-7, but she's still in good spirits. I always threaten to crimp her hose when she gets lippy with me. I haven't decided what I will do once this condition finally takes her. I love my job, but I really miss the West Coast. I guess I'll deal with that problem when it comes up.

The schnauzers are whacky as usual. That never changes. Mollie will be 8 this summer. She still has her puppy moments, which I love. Toby will be 3 in the fall, and he's extremely energetic still, but surprisingly obedient within his chaos.

On-Line Life:

City of Heroes is gone now, replaced by Everquest II. The constant lack of content in CoH really killed it for me. They started out so good, but just never built on it more. In EQ2, I'm on Crushbone in a guild with old friends that I've been with for well over 4 years now. I really enjoy that game so much more. New ones pop up occasionally, but I'll stick with this one for quite a while I'm sure.

Chatting, still love to do it. Probably more than I should. Ah well. Maybe the years of being stuck in Alaska made me more dependant on online chatting for communication.

I might post more later... as the mood strikes me...

Ciao 4 Now!

City of Heroes ROCKS!!!

I've been having a blast with this game.. enuff to have 2 accounts on it now. :)

I just started a second job recently, so I'm officially full-time again for the first time on over 2 years. I'm still getting used to it, but the money will be nice.

Nothing much exciting going on... just a relatively normal Thursday night. I should consider sleep....

"Gay Friendly"? That's an oxymoron.

Wow, what an eye-opener today...

I always thought friendship meant you would be treated with respect by your friends... obviously this is a value only I and a few others have. Ah well...

I'm closing a chapter in my life tonight. After over 2 years being a member of a gay "friendly" guild on Everquest, I have resigned from the guild. I put friendly in quotes, cuz that just isn't the case. It's sad that I would put that much time and energy into something, only to have it spoiled for me.

I can say one thing though, that NO ONE can take from me...

I accomplished my goal of having the highest Monk AND Wizard in the guild for over 6 months time. So I know I'm a good player.. or that wouldn't be the case.

It's funny.. but this experience has been very similar to my time with the Imperial Court system. I spent 5 years with the Alaskan Court, and did more successful fund-raising and performances for them than anyone before or since, and yet, when I needed a break or pointed out things that we're going wrong, I was instantly ostracized.

Ah well, I walk way from this one, with my eyes open, and with a knowledge as to who I can consider true in their hearts to the meaning of "gay friendly."

Bear Pride 2004... wow...

Well, it's 4am on the second of three days of Bear Pride, and I'm bored. Obviously, cuz I'm sitting at a computer typing into my blog. :) It's been an interesting trip, and I do enjoy Chicago, but this hotel is REALLY bad. The guys are generally pretty nice, and there are some nice looking ones wandering aimlessly around from time to time, but for the most part it was just a nice weekend away from home.

I'm sure we'll be back to Chicago at some point, not to this hotal, and prolly not for an event like this. It was a good way to see the area for the first time though. The Navy Pier ROCKS. I called my buddy Phred from the top of a 15 story ferris-wheel, which was a neat ride. The fountains are neat, the people are relatively nice, and the shopping was fun!

Ah well, back to my wanderings of the hotel. Having trouble sleeping cuz I took a nap this afternoon... that might have been a mistake. I'll wander out to the lobby again... see who's up.

Ciao!

1. Grab the nearest book.
2. Open the book to page 23.
3. Find the fifth sentence.
4. Post the text of the sentence in your journal along with these instructions.

OK, let's find a book... oh... this could be bad... the book is "Bearotica"

"The house, obviously unpainted since he left, stands gray and peeling in the afternoon light."

got lucky there.

OK, so I'm trying to lose some serious weight, bear with me on this...

Currently, I'm 240 at 6 feet tall. Not "bad", but not the best either.

Worst of all, I WORK in cardiac rehab... so I see what happens when you don't lose weight.

Ah well... I'lll keep you posted, and let you know about the progress. I'm starting the "Power 90" program tomorrow.
